Then you might want to become a Castro Ambassador! The Castro Volunteer Ambassador, serves as a good will ambassador and a guide for tourists and others visitors to the Castro. Ambassadors provide information to visitors on businesses, neighborhood events, and places of interest in the community.

The Castro Ambassador is a new volunteer program being explored by the Castro CBD. Ambassadors will be trained by the CBD, work in pairs and will welcome tourists and visitors to the neighborhood, providing information and direction on events, businesses, and places of interest. The Ambassador schedule will be flexible meeting the needs of the individual volunteers and tourists. The Castro/Upper Market Community Benefit District (Castro CBD) works to improve the Castro neighborhood by promoting a pedestrian friendly, safe and economically vital neighborhood. Some major activities include the creation of the 17th St. Plaza (Jane Warner Plaza), landscape improvements at Harvey Milk Plaza, Harvey Milk Plaque on Castro St., graffiti removal and daily cleaning the sidewalks. Future projects include increased greening and landscaping, public art and pedestrian safety improvements in the heart of the commercial district.
