Castro Street Fair is "The Happiest Place in San Francisco"

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 14, 2011

Sunday, October 2, 2011 from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM

The happiest place in San Francisco promises to be the 38th Annual Castro Street Fair, happening Sunday, October 2nd, from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM in the heart of the Castro. This year's Fair remains true to form, and will feature multiple stages of live and interactive entertainment, along with two dance stages, hundreds of exhibitors, a large food court and plenty of refreshment.

"The Castro Street Fair has long been the unofficial end to the street fair season here in San Francisco", points out the Fair's Executive Director, George Ridgely. "It's one of your last chances to get outside and dance in the streets before next spring."

The Main Stage at Castro & Market, hosted by Casey Ley and featuring Club 90s, Pop Rocks, Love Fool, and Joshua Klipp & The Freeplay Dance Crew will have you dancing all day long. The Red Rock Stage at 18th and Collingwood will be co-hosted by the sensational Drew "Chloe Sevigny" Droege and Cookie Dough; and will feature sets from Beard Summit, The Monster Show, Darius Lux, Sex Industry, Le Vice and DJ MC2. Jim Hopkins, Chelsea Starr and DJ Girlfriends will be making you sweat at the Dance Stage. You can immerse yourself in the oldfashioned carnival midway experience of Barnaby's World of Wonderment, two-step at the Sundance Country and Western Stage, or shop for fine art at the Artists Guild of San Francisco outdoor gallery.

The Castro Street Fair is a not-for-profit event, and donations collected at the entry gates go directly to more than 30 local non-profit community groups. This year the Fair will benefit AIDS Emergency Fund & Breast Cancer Emergency Fund, AIDS Housing Alliance, AIDS Legal Referral Panel, Asian & Pacific Islander Wellness Center, Bay Positives, Bears of San Francisco, Castro Country Club, Castro/Eureka Valley Neighborhood Association, Castro Lions Club Charities, Community United Against Violence, The Family Link, The 15 Association, 440 BadBoys Softball Team, Haight Ashbury Cooperative Nursery School, Hartford Street Zen Center, Harvey Milk Civil Rights Academy, Imperial Council, Instituto Familiar de La Raza, Lyon Martin Health Services, MCC-SF, McKinley Elementary, MHR-AIDS Support Group, Native American AIDS Project, Project Inform, Project Open Hand, Queer Cultural Center, San Francisco Fog Rugby, San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus, Shanti, Triangle Martial Arts Association, and Visual Aid.
