LGBT Retirement Community Now In Development in California Wine Country

By Kerry Hendrix

Fountaingrove Lodge, the nation’s first retirement community with the option of continuing care for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered (LGBT) community, is currently in development on a lush 10-acre property in beautiful Sonoma County. With activities and amenities to enhance wellness and contemporary living, Fountaingrove Lodge will provide an inviting, supportive, and active lifestyle in a setting of exceptional natural beauty, where a diverse group of LGBT seniors can live, relax, and enjoy a community of friends.

Residences at Fountaingorve Lodge will be comprised of 6 beautiful bungalows and 64 gorgeously-appointed apartment homes in nine different floor plans – ranging from 830 to 2,001 square feet – designed in the Craftman style of architecture, with the use of fine woodwork and stone inside and out that echo the native rocks and trees on the site. The property will boast wireless service in the main common areas, its own library, business center, bank, salon and day spa, great hall for special events and dancing, library, gift shop, pet park, and bocce court. Residents can join friends for a glass of wine in the lounge, grab a snack in the bistro, or dine in the formal dining room. They can also throw a private party in the Wine Cave, rustle up a game of cards, watch a favorite film in the HD theatre, or get creative in the art studio. On site workshops and literary presentations will be provided for all residents, and gourmet meals, weekly housekeeping, concierge services, and home and yard maintenance will also be available.

Exercise opportunities will abound at Fountaingrove Lodge, where residents can take a stroll through the grounds or visit the greenhouse, resident gardens, or orchard. There will also be the spectacular championship Fountaingrove Golf Course and an on-site fitness center, where they can join a yoga or aerobics class, focus on strength training in the fully equipped weight room, take part in health and fitness lectures, or swim laps in the tranquil outdoor pool.

With our growing number of baby boomers taking that first step into retirement, this community creates a lifestyle for active independent seniors, and gives the security of having extended health care services close at hand. Whether those options are temporary home health care, follow up care after a short term illness or injury, or full time private care, all these will be available without leaving your community. This is the first of its kind in our community, for our community, and built in our backyard.

To learn more about Fountaingrove Lodge, visit us at one of our upcoming lunch presentations in San Francisco on April 21st or 22nd. For more information please call 707-576-1101 or visit the website at www.fountaingrovelodge.com.

Fountaingrove Lodge, the nation’s first retirement community with the option of continuing care for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered (LGBT) community?

I don't think so. Rainbow Vision Properties in Santa Fe, New Mexico has been doing this since about 2005. Building condos for the LGBT community to retire in creating and entire community speciifically for LGBTY Seniors. Fountaingrove is hardly the first in the country to do this. I think you guys need to research your stories and stop copying the Press Release. Just my opinion.
